SK Global Chemical says it will build an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang province of China. The plant will have a production capacity of 50 000 t/a and is scheduled for startup in 2014. SK Global is planning to set a joint venture with a state-owned Chinese company for this project. Once the plant is fully operational, SK Global's total EPDM capacity will reach 90 000 t/a.
In December 2011 , the Chinese government announced that Sinopec and SK Innovation have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase cooperation between the two companies and to discuss further the petrochemical joint venture at Wuhan, Hubei province of China for a big project including an 800 000 t/a ethylene plant.
